GRADUATION AND CONVOCATION – GRADUATES

Upon initial submission of their thesis, graduate students are automatically entered in the list of students whose graduation is pending.

Approximately two months after submission of their initial thesis copies, MSc students will receive corrections from their internal and external examiners. Once revisions have been made, the final copies of the thesis are submitted (either as hard copies or e-submission) and the student will be cleared to graduate. If an MSc thesis is considered to be excellent (within the top 10% of theses that that examiner has read), the examiner may recommend that student for the Dean’s Honour List.

Approximately two months after submission of their initial thesis copies, PhD students will receive permission to schedule their PhD oral defence. Students should consult with their supervisor(s) to choose who will be on their defence committee. Once the defence is over, students will then receive the corrections from their internal and external examiners. Once revisions have been made, the final copies of the thesis are submitted (either as hard copies or e-submission) and the student will be cleared to graduate.

Approximately one week prior to the convocation date, students can view the status of their graduation approval on Minerva by accessing the Student menu>Student Records menu>Graduation Approval Query. Students should contact our Graduate Director, Andrew Hynes, or the Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Office with any questions related to their graduation status.
